#1 If new, please download the app Spond and use code AXNHU when join. You'll manually be added to the team in Spond, once you are, be sure to click the star within the sub-group to favorite your team and create a shortcut.

#2 The total league dues will be $174/player plus any card fees. If you need to pay only a portion, then the minimum deposit will be $50, and the balance will be due by October 20th at the latest. Providing this payment is the guarantee of your spot, and spots where lack of action or communication of intent will be released at our discretion. So please communicate intent to join and intent to join etc. This step and it's info will be noted within your team group on Spond as we're navigating a new method this year. Pay on Spond or use any method noted on our payment page.

Fees are non-refundable unless we are able to replace your spot, in which you'll receive a prorated value that deducts any costs already incurred.

DO NOT sign up for this league if you have visible permanent jewelry as no jewelry can  be worn that means including taping it is not permitted.

Division definition

Indoor season: three levels of play are available in 7v7 format in the winter, the rec level which is year round as well as Semi-Comp which is fall, winter and spring.  Competitive 7v7 is only available in the indoor season. Our club will for sure have teams in Rec and Semi-comp, but Comp level is depending on interest.

A reminder: There is physical contact in soccer still in this league. Recreational level is the lowest and most welcoming division of play, and semi-competitive skews younger and more skillful. Competitive is very advanced. Winter soccer can get a little more challenging than the outdoor months as more of the die hards play year round as you can imagine. As part of the team you must abide by the player charter, and strive to make the playing experience a positive one on and off the pitch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at ryan@grayduckssoccer.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Unfortunately soccer space is at a premium in Minnesota due to the weather and lack of facility space, so to play this during the indoor months it is about 35% higher in cost than the outdoor season. You can find the league's resources on this topic on their website as well.

Our math is based on the following:
10 games for fields and refs estimated at $110/game
Registration fee of $350 and Performance bond of $150 per session
Club association fee of $50 per session
Finance fee of $70

We typically roster 11 players to ensure playing time is ideal, however teams can have more and the cost be proportionately lower. We also withhold some monies to support misc needs for a team such as a discount to lure a goalkeeper to play. The club operates as an ecosystem and it is why we have been successfully operating sustainable teams since 2013. You may be able to play elsewhere for less, however the perks in our club tend to be:
- teams stay together long term and have stable rosters and leadership
- opportunities to play additional games, tournaments and move teams
- a great club name and identity to wear and associate with ethos that align with yours
+ so much more

Players are required to wear shin guards. Any color shorts and socks are okay, though see below for common colors. Players are required to have both team color shirts with a unique number, we will place an order for shirts ahead of the season for those who do not have them. Taping a number on a shirt is okay. Our teams typically wear Royal or Cobalt blue, and then light gray (or white) should be brought to each game too. No numbers are required for 7v7. Select teams of ours wear an alternate color which is noted to those folks accordingly.

Common colors for socks and shorts are royal blue, gray, white, and black.

There is a zero jewelry policy, so if you have permanent jewelry do not join a team that plays in the MWSL. Why? This rule is handed down by FIFA and US Soccer, and the MWSL league is part of US Soccer's structure. If you have permanent jewelry you should instead play coed and/or in the MPRB league. Taping and covering of watches, fitbits or jewelry is not permitted. Even if a ref is lenient, that is not an excuse. Players can be fined by the league and teams can be fined by the league if players take the field with jewelry.

Teams can pursue their own practices, but adult soccer tends to just be games only as people have limited ability to participate in extra curriculars. There is not a coach either. Teams are expected to work together, and often team captains emerge to help lead the team through the game strategically.
A team manager is always necessary to ensure game day rosters are printed, a check is available to pay refs at half time, and any other game materials are present. A club admin is always involved in teams to ensure the teams have what they need for a fun, competitive and successful season of play.

The summers are busy in Minnesota and it is expected people will miss a couple games. It is how you go about missing a game that matters. All attendance RSVPs are due 48hrs or more in advance. Any changes to the RSVP need to me additionally noted in the team chat as a change to the invite is not sufficient to alert the team that a drop has occurred.

Anyone who no shows or consistently drops last minute is subject to being removed from the team without refund. The leagues are expensive and that sort of action has negative impacts on experiences and safety. We do a lot of the work to make it so all you have to do is RSVP yes or no, and show up to play and have fun when you're a yes.

We strive to build our teams to have a balance between up top, mid and defense. The only assured role on a team is the goalkeeper. Strategically we want our best defender as center backs, and our ball distributors in the center mid.

Teams have always worked together to balance out who players where. There tends to be more interest in forward than other spots, so we do not permit people to ONLY play striker. If that is all you want, then playing adult soccer may be a challenge for you in general. Not saying forwards wont ever get that chance, but teams need to share the role is all.

All players are expected to share playing time, and there are unlimited subs permitted. Stoppages are when subbing can occur, and players may go in and out of play unlimited numbers of times. Players average more than 30 minutes of play during each game. This format of play requires players on the field to be moving all the time as it's a faster pace of play compared to big field soccer. So play hard, and sub often is the expectation at all levels.

No one is permitted to play all of the minutes in our club. Some players may earn extra playing time grace from their teammates if they play a role others don't want to play e.g. center defense. If players are not being effective and they're tired, teammates can and should call them off the field to get fresh legs.
